Intragastric balloon

The Intra-gastric Balloon is a minimally invasive non-surgical intervention to assist in weight loss.

The system involves endoscopic insertion of a balloon into the stomach and inflation of the balloon with liquid. The space occupying fluid-filled balloon aims to achieve weight loss by delaying gastric emptying, which can create a feeling of fullness. The device can be kept in for 6-12 months depending on the type of balloon used. The amount of weight loss to be expected depends on the device that is chosen.
