Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty
This involves the placement of internal stitches inside the stomach to lessen the volume and change the shape of the stomach, forming a tube. It is performed using an endoscope - a tube with a camera attached which is inserted through the mouth to gain access to the stomach. The procedure restricts the amount of calories your body absorbs and the amount of food you can eat. Because it is a relatively new procedure, little information is available on its long-term effectiveness (more than two years) in causing weight loss, or on the long-term consequences of the procedure.
