Dr Susan Clarnette BMBS, DCH, FRACGP
Dr Susan Clarnette graduated from the University of Adelaide in 1987 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and then attained her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1994. She also completed her Certificate in Family Planning and her Diploma in Child Health. She has worked in General Practice for 30 years both in Adelaide and overseas with a particular interest in preventive health and the management of chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. She also has a strong interest in Women's Health, including fertility and antenatal shared care and is involved in tutoring medical students at the University of Adelaide, primarily in patient communication.
Working with chronic disease has enabled her to develop a strong interest in obesity and its effects on health, and how effective lifestyle changes and weight management can improve or even reverse many chronic disease states. Dr Clarnette believes in an evidence-based, holistic approach using non surgical and surgical means to achieve the desired goals. She also understands the importance of managing the psychological aspects of weight and lifestyle changes. She joined Re:You in 2019 because it offers the whole patient care model in which she believes.
She also continues to work in women's health and antenatal shared care and is able to bring this expertise to Re:You - both fertility and contraception are integral parts of weight and lifestyle management.
Dr Clarnette looks forward to working with Re:You patients to help them achieve significant improvement in their health and the realisation of their goals.
Dr Clarnette is married with 3 adult children. She loves to play and watch all sorts of sports, enjoys travel and active holidays and is keenly interested in current affairs.
