Dr Suwanee Chawla MBBS FRACGP MPH

Dr Suwanee Chawla graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2006 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.  She spent the next 5 years working across various adult medicine disciplines in Lyell McEwin Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre before finding her true calling in general practice in 2014. She had the privilege of working in both rural and metro general practice settings during her training.  Her passion for advocating health promotion and preventative care prompted her to pursue additional studies in public health. She graduated with a Master of Public Health, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of the importance of holistic approach and preventive care measures. She received her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College on General Practitioner in 2022.

With a wealth of experience both in general practice and hospital settings, Dr Chawla understands the complexity of chronic illnesses and the impact they have on patients' lives. This instilled in her the belief that individualised treatment plans and teamwork are essential for patients' journeys towards improved health outcomes.

Dr Chawla’s interest in weight management started during her time working closely with endocrinologists in the hospital but became more evident when she was involved in managing patients with weight-related illnesses in general practice. Witnessing the significant improvements in physical and emotional health through weight loss, she became passionate about providing comprehensive weight management solutions to her patients.

Dr Chawla would like to be an integral part of all her patient’s health journey, advocating for better health outcomes for all. She firmly believes that a sustainable approach is paramount in achieving overall health and well-being for her patients. She is committed to working alongside you, tailoring personalised plans that lead to lasting positive changes.

Outside of work, Dr Chawla is married with 3 wonderful children. She shares her son’s passion for soccer (mostly as a spectator) and her daughters’ love for music. She loves travelling and learning about new cultures and languages.
